A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Edward Church, celebrated by Monsignor Robert Siffrin, for Ann M. Kovach, 85, of Liberty Township, who passed away Sunday afternoon at Liberty Heath Care Center with her family by her side.
Mrs. Kovach was born August 7, 1931 in Youngstown and was a daughter of Fred and Marion Howard Oexle and was a lifelong member of the community.
She was a secretary for Dr. M.C. Raupple for 12 years and retired in 1959 to raise her family. Mrs. Kovach was a member of the parish, its crochet club, member of Seton I, volunteered for Meals on Wheels and a 1951 graduate of Ursuline High School.
Mrs. Kovach made crafts for the trays at St. Elizabeth Hospital and numerous nursing home for all the holidays in which she could take a piece of construction paper and make it dance.
Mrs. Kovach leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Francis Kovach, whom she married on August 11, 1956 for over 60 years; children, James Kovach of Liberty Township; Jerome (Marge) Kovach of Clark, NJ; Susie (Greg) Malito of Austintown; and Kathy Kovach of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Christopher Malito in which he spent every Sunday with his grandparents and affectionately called his grandmother, Nanny Anny; Danielle Kovach and Michael Kovach; sisters in law, Aggie Kovach; Cecilia Ferenchak; Josephine Salata and Patty Kovach; brother in law, Cyril (Mary) Kovach and her grand dog Katie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers in law, John, Joseph and George Kovach; sisters in law, Catherine Yanek, Mary Minear and Regina Kovach.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers that contributions may be St. Edward Church, 240 Tod Lane, Youngstown, 44504 or Liberty Health Care Center, 1355 Churchill Hubbard Road, Youngstown, 44505.
The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday in St. Edward Church from 5 to 7 p.m. and Thursday in St. Edward Church from 10 to 10:45 a.m.
