A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 31st, for Carmela Ferrazzano Pesa, 92, of Youngstown, formerly of Coronada Avenue, who passed away Monday morning at Meridian Arms.

                Mrs. Pesa was born April 1, 1924 in New Castle, PA and was a daughter of Anthony and Lena Perone Ferrazzano and moved to the area upon her marriage.

                She was a bookkeeper for the Pennsylvania Department of Highway in New Castle and retired in 1994 as the office manager and bookkeeper for the Salvation Army after more than 23 years.

                Mrs. Pesa was a member of St. Edward Parish, member of the Cenacle Prayer Group, secretary and president of the Women’s Auxiliary of ITAMS Post 274, a graduate of New Castle High School and in 1999 she was selected as a WFMJ-TV Daymaker.

                As an avid cook, Mrs. Pesa had a cookbook published that was titled “Favorite Recipes Homestyle” that was featured in “Best of Best Ohio Cookbooks” and in “Our Good Cooks” in the Vindicator in 1977.  Also as a wonderful baker, Mrs. Pesa was known for her banana bread and at the age of 81 she began a home business of making dessert breads which led to her participation in the Elm Street Farmers Market.

                Mrs. Pesa leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Anthony (Marsha) Pesa of Columbus; Albert (Debbie) Pesa of Rockhill, South Carolina; and Andrew Pesa of Girard; a daughter, Angela (Tony) Vesci of Youngstown; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren;

                Besides her parents Mrs. Pesa was preceded in death by her husband, Reynald Albert Pesa whom she married May 30, 1951 and who passed away July 26, 1999.
