Services will be 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at the McCauley Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m.  at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica for Joseph A. Cappuzzello, 91, who passed away Saturday morning at Hospice House with his family by his side.

Mr. Cappuzzello was born in Youngstown on Sept. 19, 1925 and was a son of George and Theresa Iorio Cappuzzello and was a lifelong member of the community.

Mr. Cappuzzello was employed by the United States Postal service for 39 years serving as a carrier, a supervisor and retired in 1987 as the Postmaster in McDonald, Ohio.

He was a member of the parish, a graduate of The Rayen School, attended Youngstown College, an avid Notre Dame fan, enjoyed the Cleveland Indians, the Pittsburgh Steelers and was a United States Army veteran. He was involved in youth sports serving as a coach in the Youngstown Babe Ruth League and he took pleasure in watching local baseball games but his family was of the utmost importance to him.

 Mr. Cappuzzello leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Joseph G. (Amy) Cappuzzello of Salem: Marie (Dale) Barr of Bellevue; Elaine Fonce of Mineral Ridge; Susan (Russell) Gifford of Canfield; David (Susie) Cappuzzello of Columbiana; Michelle Whittenberger of Canfield; and Michael Cappuzzello of Boardman; grandchildren, Julie (Andrew) Schuler; Jenny (Adam) Mangus; Ryan Cappuzzello; Mary Cappuzzello; John Cappuzzello; Regina Barr; Anna Barr; Jessica Gifford; Chad (Kristina) Gifford; Andrew Cappuzzello: Cara Cappuzzello; Katie Libb; Danny Libb; Luke Whittenberger; Erica Whittenberger; Matthew Whittenberger; Jacob Whittenberger and Tori Cappuzzello; a great granddaughter, Olivia Martin.

Besides his parents, Mr. Cappuzzello was preceded in death by his wife the former, Mary Lou Panozzo whom he married Sept. 14, 1957 and who passed away Nov. 4, 1988; sisters, Rosemarie Marino, Anna Maiorana, Julia Cappuzzello, Jane Cappuzzello, Mary Horvatich and Amelia Guarnieri, brothers, Anthony Capuzelle, Frank Capuzello and Angelo Cappuzzello.

The family has requested that contributions  may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mount Carmel Avenue, Youngstown, OH 44505 and/or Hospice House, 9803 Sharrot Road, Poland, Ohio 44514.
