Sister Veronica Ternovacz, H.M., 85, formerly Sr. Bernard, died Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Villa Maria Community Center, Villa Maria, PA.  Born in Cleveland, she entered the Sisters of the Humility of Mary Congregation in 1952.
Having received music degrees from the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University and Notre Dame University, South Bend, Sr. Veronica taught music at St. Brendan, Youngstown and in the Cleveland Diocese before coming to Villa Maria High School where she taught music and related arts in addition to sharing life with the residents for ten years.  She served as treasurer for the HM Community for 12 years. Since 1967 Sr. Veronica served as Director of Music and Liturgy at the Villa.
Sr. Veronica served on the Board of Directors of St. Elizabeth Hospital, Youngstown from 1992-96 and on the St. Elizabeth Hospital Foundation Board from 1996-2005.  She was also a member of the finance boards for Magnificat High School, Rocky River, Ohio and the Diocese of Youngstown.  
She was a founding member in 2000 of the Forum for Sisters, an international spirituality and dialogue collaboration of religious sisters from central and eastern Europe and the US.  She served as the executive director of the group from 2005 until her death.
The daughter of the late Paul and Mary (nee Herzog) Ternovacz, she is survived by her sister Mary Hornyak of Aurora;  several nieces and nephews and their families; and her sisters in the Humility of Mary Congregation with whom she shared her life for 63 years.  She was preceded in death by her brother Paul Ternovacz.
Funeral Wed., Sept. 28 at 10:30 am at Villa Maria Chapel, Villa Maria PA.  Friends may call at Villa Maria Chapel Tues., Sept. 27, 3:30-5pm and 6- 8:00 pm and Wed., Sept. 28, 9-10:15am. Prayer service at 7:00pm Tuesday, Sept. 27.
