PUNTA GORDA, FL – A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Patrick Church - Youngstown for Doris M. Vaughan, 93, who passed away Saturday morning.
Mrs. Vaughan was a daughter of Martin and Hazel Kerr Acker was born Feb. 3, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA. and came to this area in 1954.
She was employed by the Youngstown Diocese as a secretary for over 11 years and was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish while in Youngstown
Mrs. Vaughan lived a full life as she bowled at Wedgewood Lanes well into her 80’s; she golfed and belonged to several card clubs. She swam at the Ursuline Motherhouse, played bingo twice a week, loved Yahtzee and playing poker with family. Recently, since moving to Florida karaoke nights became a favorite. Mrs. Vaughan was a graduate of Brentwood High School.
Mrs. Vaughan was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Vaughan, whom she married Nov. 16, 1947 and who passed away Oct. 28, 2000.
Mrs. Vaughan is survived by her daughter, Jackie (Frank) Prologo of Poland; daughter in law, Carol Vaughan of Punta Gorda with whom she made her home; grandsons, Martin (Debbie) Vaughan, Jr.; Kevin Vaughan; Chad (Julie) Prologo; David (Dana) Prologo and Corey (Stephanie) Prologo; a granddaughter, Shanna (Mike) Tennant; and twelve great grandchildren
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her son, Martin Vaughan and a granddaughter, Meg Vaughan.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday at St. Patrick Church - Youngstown from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m.
