YOUNGSTOWN – Mary Joyce Hartwig, 57, passed into God's perfect peace February 26, 2019 with family beside her. She is a 1980 graduate of Ursuline High School, attended YSU, and gifted many over the years with her talents as a hair stylist.
Mary was born December 27, 1961 and a lifelong Northside Youngstown resident. She is preceded in death by her father, Warren "Babe" Hartwig, brother Tom “Twig” Hartwig and brother-in-law Jerry Resatar. Mary is survived by her mother, Patricia A. Hartwig; siblings, Bob, Bill, Patty Resatar, John, Paul (Pam Scharrer), and Susie (Rich) Sferra.
Mary loved and cherished her role as Aunt to ten nieces and nephews; Brian (KerriAnn) Hartwig, Stacy (John) Best, Cathi (Chuck) Christopher, Matthew (Alesha) Resatar, Johnny, P.J., Jason, Kati Hartwig, Anthony and Audrey Sferra; and six great nieces and nephews Zane Hartwig, Arya Best, Cody, Tyler, Ava Christopher, Emily Resatar. Mary was a gentle and unconditionally loving person, now leaving countless friends and relatives with joyful memories.
Visitation will take place at 9:30AM - 10:45 AM Saturday March 2nd at St. Edward Catholic Church. The Most Reverend Monsignor Robert Siffrin will celebrate a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00AM. Interment will follow.
Mary was a woman of faith. She loved to laugh, and her smile was infectious. She also loved to serve others, lending her helping hand and heart to everyone she encountered – including volunteering weekly for the St. Vincent DePaul Society Soup Kitchen. In lieu of flowers, consider making your own contribution of time or finance to a charitable organization of your choice. Mary’s family is especially grateful for the compassionate care given by the staff of St. Elizabeth Mercy Hospital.
