LIBERTY TWP. – A Mass of Christian Burial will be Noon, Monday, September 18 in St. Edward Church for Michael G. Manning, 66, who passed away Wednesday morning at his residence surrounded by his loving family. The Mass will be celebrated by his brother, Reverend Father Patrick Manning.

Michael was born June 19, 1951 in Youngstown and was a son of John P. and Kathleen Reagan Manning and was a lifelong member of the community.

Michael was a wonderful baker whose career began as the pizza boy at Atlantic Mills on Belmont Avenue. As his affection for baking evolved as he was employed by many of the Sparkle Markets and the Giant Eagles in the area and cumulating owning his own business known as Manning’s Cake and Pastry Shop.  He was also a licensed real estate agent employed by Stephanie Bozin Relators

Michael was a member of St. Columba Cathedral, St. George Croatian Home, Knights of Columbus Immaculata Council 15086, and Ursuline Booster Club, member of Local 880 Retail Clerk Retirees, Cleveland Bakers and Teamsters Retirees.  He was a 1969 graduate of Ursuline High School and attended Youngstown State University.

Michael leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, the former, Linda Wollitz, whom he married May 3, 1975; his daughters, Meredyth (John Paul) Ray of Youngstown and Jessica (Ian) McKenna of Liberty Twp.; a niece who was very dear to him, Bridget Keevey and her son, Devan; siblings, Reverend Father Patrick Manning of Canton; Kathleen (James) Zidian of Youngstown; Marian (Mark) Acerra of Girard; Thomas (Alice) Manning of Austintown; Martina (Domenic) Marzano of Struthers; Margaret Bishop of Charlotte, NC; Edgar (Shirley) Manning of Boardman and Liam (Nicole) Manning of Tennessee; grandchildren, Madison Ray, Ian McKenna and Rhys Michael McKenna who will be born in the near future; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Michael was preceded in death by an infant sister, Colleen.

His passions included his family especially his grandchildren, his baking, his friends and he thoroughly enjoyed his trips to St. Petersburg, Florida, Las Vegas and to the Amish country.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers contributions please be made to the Rich Center for Autism, 1 University Plaza, Youngstown, Ohio 44555 and/or Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44512

The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Monday at St. Edward Church where all services will be held.
