Sister Theresa White H.M.

Sister Theresa White, H.M., formerly Sr. Mary Bede, 97, died Monday, April 8, 2019 at Villa Maria Community Center, Villa Maria, PA.

Born in Conneaut, Ohio to the late Francis (Bianco) and Julia (nee Petrucelli) White she graduated from Conneaut High School in 1939. She entered the Sisters of the Humility of Mary in 1941 from St. Mary Parish, Conneaut and professed her perpetual vows in 1946.

Sr. Theresa attended St. John College, Cleveland, Fontbonne College, St. Louis, Missouri and the former North Easton College, Easton, Massachusetts. 

Sr. Theresa’s dedicated ministry of 73 years in four dioceses included assignments in the dioceses of Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Youngstown, and her 48 years in Grand Island, Nebraska. She served in food service positions in Ohio and as a pastoral minister during her years in Grand Island.  She was a woman for others, generously sharing her multiple talents including culinary artistry, business acumen and pastoral care. Her hallmark was hospitality and service.

Sr. Theresa returned to Villa Maria Community Center in 2018 where she joined her sisters in the Ministry of Prayer and Presence.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers Charles, Joseph and Anthony White and Brother Valentino Bianco, CFA; and her sisters Louise Buckley and Catherine Rich.  She is survived by nine nieces and nephews and their families and her sisters in the Humility of Mary Community with whom she shared 78 years of her life.

Funeral  Friday, April 12 at 10:30 am at Villa Maria Chapel, Villa Maria PA.  Friends may call at Villa Maria Chapel Thursday, April 11, 3:30-7:00 pm and Friday, April 12, 9– 10:15am. Prayer service at 7:00 pm Thursday, April 11.
