Services will be 11 am Tuesday at the McCauley Funeral Home, celebrated by Monsignor Robert Siffrin, for Agnes L. Lapanja, 98, of Youngstown who passed away Thursday morning at Humility House.
Mrs. Lapanja who was affectionately known as "Aunt Aggie" to so many was born August 10, 1917 in Youngstown and was a daughter of John G. and Mary M. Dolansky Hura.
She was a bookkeeper for General Electric, a member of Holy Name of Jesus Church where she taught CCD and sewed the cloths for the altar, a member of its Altar and Rosary Society, a graduate of Chaney High School and enjoyed reading and walking.
Mrs. Lapanja leaves to cherish her memory several nieces and nephews including Pat (Bob) Stedman of Austintown; many great nieces and nephews which included Carole (Patrick) Bender of Bethel Park, PA; and Dave (Kellie) Lawrence of Holly Springs, NC; several great great nieces and nephews and a sister in law, Mary Hura of Pittsford, NY
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew A. Lapanja whom she married Nov. 8, 1952 and who passed away May 2, 1983, her siblings, Eleanor Martinko, John A. Hura, Paul J. Hura; Josephine Novak, Edward G. Hura, Raymond P. Hura, Virginia L. Hura and Richard P. Hura
The family wants to express their thanks and gratitude to the Humility House for the wonderful and compassion care and love their aunt received.
The family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday from 10 am until 10:45 am at the funeral home.
