Charles Joseph Goolsby was born in Athens Georgia, and was the 9th child of parents Willie-Mae Grimes Goolsby, and Joseph Goolsby. Charles has 6 surviving siblings, Maude Maddox of Cincinnati, Ohio; Jimmy Goolsby of Cincinnati, Ohio; Gloria Little of Athens, Georgia; Lola Goolsby of Athens, Ohio; Cleveland Goolsby of Athens, Georgia; and Stanley Goolsby of Athens, Georgia.
Charles graduated from Athens High School and joined the U.S Air Force to serve our country. After retiring from the U.S Air Force he resided in Newport News, Virginia. While living in Newport News Charles established an adult home care business for the elderly, shortly after he met his wife Elizabeth Harvey. They married in Virginia and in 2003 moved to Youngstown, Ohio.
Charles was a very kind spirited man, that had a open door policy to his home. He welcomed anyone and did anything he absolutely could for anyone in need. If you needed a good laugh Charles was the person to go to.
Charles will be missed greatly by his dear wife Elizabeth Goolsby, biological children Michallane and Katrina of Virginia. Step children: Tomiko Harvey of Youngstown, Ohio; Nicole Bryant of Chantilly, Virginia; Jessika Lawrence of Richmond, Virginia. Charles has over 10 grandchildren. Oldest Merissa Harrison, Ciaira Bryant, Elijah Bryant, Aniah Bryant, Amari Ferdinand, Denzel Harvey, Dominique Harvey, Jayden Harvey, Makayla Harvey, Canaan Harvey, Alivia Harvey, Alex Harvey.
Charles will be missed dearly by his family and friends and I know he wouldn't want us to morn over him to just celebrate on the oh so many good times we had with him. And pour a little vodka out for his behalf (we all know Charlie loved his cup with a little something, something in it)
We Love you Charlie and again will miss you a lot but will never forget you.
May you rest in peace

Farewell is beautiful
A glimpse into the future
Farewell is wonderful
It sets for Adventure
Goodbye is sad
A dive into the past
Goodbye is hard
It memories cast
For old faces must go
Yet new places to go
A chapter opened
And a chapter closed
O Farewell O farewell
How nice if I could tomorrow tell
O Goodbye O goodbye
In thou sweet memories lie

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40:30-31
