YOUNGSTOWN – Cheryl A. Smith, 63, of Youngstown passed away Thursday afternoon, July 30, 2020 at Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with her son by her side.

Cheryl was born October 27, 1956 in Butler, Pennsylvania and was a daughter of Fred W. and Sarah E. McNelly Smith and coming to this area as a child.

Cheryl worked with Home Instead as a caregiver, a member of St. Edward Parish, a 1974 graduate of Ursuline High School and attended Youngstown State University. She had a beautiful garden in which she shared her bounty with family and friends and also was a wonderful baker. Cheryl was an enormous Pittsburgh Steeler fan.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Sam (Brooke) of Mineral Ridge; and a brother, Regis (Susan) of Youngstown.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Fred W. Smith, Jr. and her beloved dog, Moose.

A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be in St. Edward Church celebrated by Monsignor Robert Siffrin. Please be advised to wear a mask if your health permits and social distancing guidelines will be followed.
