YOUNGSTOWN—Services will be Tuesday October 6 from 5-7 pm. at McCauley Funeral Home, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am Wednesday October 7 at St. Dominic Church for Daniel Aloysius McGiffin, who passed away, October 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
The son of Thomas and Noreen Handel-McGiffin was born in January 1968. A graduate of Boardman High School in 1987, he continued his education at Youngstown State University graduating with a BS in Physics and Astronomy in 1991.
He moved to the Washington DC area shortly after graduation, working for several technical companies supporting various aerospace projects under contracts with NASA and The Department of Defense for over 30 years.
He was a member of St. Dominic Parish since 2009.
His loving memory will forever be cherished by his siblings: Thomas (Debbie) McGiffin of Girard, Tim (Lisa) McGiffin of Poland, Nora (Dennis) Page of Sevierville, TN, and Kathleen Longacre of Aurora, Ill. Cherished by nephews and nieces: Tommy (Marie Agona ) Powell, Bridget Powell, Krystina (Chris) Thomas, Michael (Maura) McGiffin, Ryan (Kaitlin) McGiffin, Madeline Longacre, and niece-in-law Alana Page. Cherished by great nephews and nieces: Arthur, Madison, Anya (Godchild), Anna, Bruce, Landon, Mario, Jay, Patrick, August, and Evyn.
Most notable, his loving memory will forever be cherished by his Uncle Dan and Aunt Dolly Handel and Aunt Ann Handel-Gudas. Cherished by dearest friends, Markus Benkert and his family, Conrad and Mariana Schiff and family, and long dearest friends from Ohio, Michael and Marie Vostatek and family. And dear friends Uria and Rebecca
Schlabach and family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Patrick, nephew Christopher Page, and notably Edward "Ted" Handel and Marie Handel, who were his uncle, aunt and Godparents.
The family would like to extend a Thank You to the wonderful staff of Shepherd of the Valley Boardman, the caring nurses of Hospice and a special thank you to Father Frassati Davis and Lisa Cahill of St Dominic's Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, Dan had requested contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Hospice of the Valley.
