AUSTINTOWN - Dorothy L. D'Amico, 86, of Youngstown, OH, passed away on Saturday morning, October 17, 2026, at her residence surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on April 26, 1940, in Youngstown, OH, a daughter of the late Fred and Mary Mancuso Pompilii.
Dorothy was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she lived a life of kindness and love for those closest to her. She was a proud 1958 graduate of South High School. She touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She lived a life filled with love, cherished memories, and simple joys that made her who she was. She had a great heart full of compassion and a special love for all living creatures, especially her beloved dogs, who brought her so much happiness. Dorothy may hold the title of Elvis Presley’s number one fan. She also had a deep appreciation for classic films, especially “Gone with the Wind,” a favorite enjoyed time and time again. She treasured her yearly trips to Las Vegas with her son, Dean, creating memories she held close to her heart.
Dorothy was blessed to have her daughter and granddaughter by her side, caring for her with love—a special bond that will always be in our hearts. Above all, some of her happiest moments were spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who brought love and joy into her life. She will be remembered for her gentle, quiet, yet strong spirit. She will be deeply missed by her children, Dean D’Amico of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Deanna (Thomas) Jones of Youngstown, Ohio; grandchildren, Thomas (Ra-An) Jones, Alyson Jones, and Michael Jones; great-grandchildren, Alexa Reeves, Alivia Reeves, and Thomas Jones VI; and brother, Richard Pompilii of Hubbard, Ohio.
Though we say goodbye, we find comfort in the belief that Dorothy is reunited with the loved ones who have gone before her. May she be at peace, surrounded by those she missed.
As Dorothy would always remind us, “This too shall pass.”
Mom, Grammy, we will carry your wisdom—until we meet again.
She will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, OH on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Road, Canfield, Ohio 44406 in Dorothy’s memory.
