A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday in St. Edward Church, celebrated by Monsignor Robert Siffrin, For Eileen P. Lyons, 85, who passed away Sunday morning at Hospice House.

Mrs. Lyons was born January 23, 1932 in Niles and was a daughter of Gerald J. and Mildred M. Mathews Minahan and moved to the north side of Youngstown as a child.

She was a 1953 graduate of St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, where she was employed for many years, previously serving as the head nurse in the emergency room and the Family Health Center and retired from nursing in 1998. Mrs. Lyons aided in the development of the local Poison Control Center.

Mrs. Lyons was a member of the parish was a Eucharistic Minister and was a volunteer secretary, a 1950 graduate of Ursuline High School, member of the Catholic Nurses where she was in charge of publicity, alumni of St. Elizabeth School of Nursing and a member of St. Elizabeth Auxiliary.

Mrs. Lyons leaves to cherish her memory, son, Richard Lyons and his wife Sue of Vienna; brother, John Minahan of Girard; and a granddaughter, Christine Lyons.

Besides her parents Mrs. Lyons was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Lyons, whom she married December 29, 1963 and who passed away July 1, 1965, brothers, Michael Minahan and Gerald Minahan, Jr. and a sister, Mary Ann Minahan.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the McCauley Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friday at St. Edward Church.
