BOARDMAN – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in St. Charles Borromeo Church by Father Philip Rogers for Elizabeth Verdinek, 89, who passed away Wednesday afternoon at Vibra Hospital of Mahoning Valley.
Mrs. Verdinek who was known as "Libby" was born Sept. 19, 1925 in Washington, Pennsylvania and was a daughter of Joseph and Anna Lewis Polucci and came to this community in 1952.
She was employed by the Strouss Department Store, in the young men's department at the Boardman Plaza for several years and then for Sears, working first in the uptown and then retired  in the mid 1980's from the Southern Park Mall working for over twelve years.
Mrs. Verdinek was a member of the church, Sears Friendship Club, S.N.P. J. Youngstown Lodge # 153 a past member of American Legion Auxiliary # 732 and as an avid bowler she belonged to both L & M Mixed Bowling League and  Boardman Quads League.
Mrs. Verdinek leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Wayne (Bonnie) Verdinek of Austintown and David (Susanne) Verdinek of Boardman; sister, Betty Palfreyman of Washington, PA; grandchildren, Jessica (Christopher) Wal; Brent Verdinek; Daniel (Nisha) Verdinek; and David (Sarah) Verdinek; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents Mrs. Verdinek was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Verdinek, Jr. whom she married June 25, 1949 and who passed away Feb. 10, 2014.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday morning at St. Charles Borromeo Church.
