YOUNGSTOWN - Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Tifereth Israel Cemetery of Wilmington Road in New Castle for Jacob S. Feldman who passed away Wednesday morning at North Side Hospital.
Jacob was born in New Castle, Pa on September 20, 1926. He was the second child of four born to Morris and Lena Lipshitz Feldman.
Jacob graduated high school in Ellwood City and was also a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. He had been a resident of Heritage Manor since 2007.
Jacob was a caseworker for the Mercer County Board of Assistance, was an avid gardener and was a historian. He was the author of a published book, The Jewish Experience in Western Pennsylvania: A History, 1755-1945. He also wrote a sequel which was not published.
He married the former Faye Z. Wesely in 1968 Faye, who also resided in Heritage Manor, passed away October 10, 2010. In addition to his parents, and his wife, Jacob was predeceased by his brother, Irving of Ellwood City.
Jacob leaves his son, Sam (June) and their three children; his brother, Herman of Ellwood City; and his sister, Esther Schmerling of Wilmington, Delaware.
