GIRARD--Jane Cleary Bernard, 93, joined her Lord and Savior on March 17, 2014.  Jane was born on July 7, 1920 to Edward J. and Florence Garde Cleary.

Mrs. Bernard married the love of her life, Anthony M. (Bud) Bernard on June 4, 1945.  They were married over 65 years at the time of Mr. Bernard's death on August 19, 2010.

Jane graduated from Boardman High School in 1937 at the age of 16.  She attended Youngstown College, now known as Youngstown State University, majoring in Business and Secretarial Science.  When her youngest child entered high school, she returned to Youngstown State University to study art.  Jane worked mostly as a secretary at various positions in Youngstown and New York City before her marriage.  However, her favorite job was to teach art to the residents at John XXIII in Hermitage, PA.

Jane is a member of Pleasant Valley Evangelical Church and it's Pleasant Timers.  She attended Nell Kulow's Bible Study group for many years.  Jane is also an excellent seamstress and created hats.  Once she made the gowns and head dresses for an entire wedding party.  And of course, her passion, her paintings.

Mrs. Bernard leaves behind to mourn her loss, her children:  Patricia Bernard Marks, Kathleen Bernard, Jane Ann Mason (Robert), Christine Bernard, Michael Bernard (Linda), Mark Bernard (Rhonda), Mary Bernard Falk (James), and Daniel Bernard (Toni); 14 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.  She also leaves behind her sister, Mary T. Cleary.

Proceeding Jane in death were her parents, her husband, 2 grandsons, her sisters, Mary Frances Cleary, Joan Cleary. Florence Cleary, and Anne Cleary Joyce; and brothers, Edward J. Cleary, Jr., and John Cleary.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the McCauley Funeral Home and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Valley Evangelicial Church in Niles. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am with John Weisman officiating at the Church.  Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetary, immediately following.
