Obituary

COLUMBUS – A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Angela Merici Parish celebrated by Father Kevin Peters, for Jean Althof Miller, lovingly known as "Sissy." Jean passed away Wednesday morning at Willow Brook Christian Home in Columbus with her family by her side.

Jean was born Feb. 12, 1920 in Youngstown and was a daughter of Dr. Wellington and Nellie Elliott Althof.

Jean was known for her love of God, caring for others and a positive attitude.

She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Parish in Powell, former member of St. Edward and Immaculate Conception Parishes, member of Youngstown Country Club, Junior League of Youngstown, Junior Newman Club, graduate of The Rayen School and attended Youngstown College.

Jean leaves to cherish her memory her sons, James D. (Cindy) Miller; Gregory A. (Ellen) Miller; Paul E. (Katie) Miller; and Dr. Scott M. (Kathy) Miller; daughters, Deborah Jane Miller and Diane (Pat) McCarthy; and 22 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren;  niece, Susan (David) Landow, nephew, Charley Althof and her special friend, Tina Ammendolia

Beside her parents, Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James Miller, whom she married May 15, 1943 and who passed away Nov. 1, 1978, and a brother, Dr. Wellington Charles "Duke" Althof.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made, in Jean's name, to St. Angela Merici Food Pantry, 397 South Jackson Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44506.
