Obituary

CANFIELD - It is with heavy hearts that we announce our Mother, Jeanne McLaughlin Foley, passed peacefully from our world February 14, 2025 joining her beloved Don and other loved ones who have gone before her.

"Loving, Laughing, and a Bit of Heartache" is how she titled her autobiography, and she lived it all to the fullest to the beautiful age of 95. She will always be remembered for her love, beautiful smile and personality.

Jeanne was born January 8, 1930, daughter of Vincent and Elizabeth McLaughlin, the 9th of 10 children.

She married her high school sweetheart, Donald E. Foley on June 3, 1950. Theirs was a love story for the ages. Together they shared 55 years. Her lasting legacy is the family they lovingly created of 8 children, 26 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and counting. She always believed her greatest accomplishment in life was her family and children.

Jeanne was a 1948 graduate of Ursuline High School.  She worked for the Diocese of Youngstown before she married. Volunteering became a part of who she was, and she loved it. She volunteered for Beatitude House, Meals On Wheels, St. Vincent DePaul, Drivers for Seniors, Hospice and St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was a member of St Edward Parish where she also served as a Eucharistic Minister for the homebound. Jeanne was honored with the Ursuline Distinguished Alumna Award in 2005.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Jim (Vicki) Foley of Columbus, Sue (Butch) Paluga, Peggy (Tom) Poole, Katey (Mike) Revak, Don (Lisa) Foley, Michael (MaryBeth) Foley of Columbus, Kevin (Betsy) Foley of Columbus, 26 grandchildren & 26 great grandchildren. She also leaves a brother-in-law Jim Nagle and sister-in-law Betty McLaughlin.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Don who passed away in 2005, daughter Mary, young grandsons Michael Paluga & John Foley, brothers Vincent, Jim, Dick Mclaughlin, and sisters Mary Helen McMahon, Kay Heames, Rita Ryan, Ann Flannery, Lenore Kerrigan-Nagle, and Sue Johnson.

We would like to sincerely thank Diane and Ed Reese and the entire staff at Ironwood. Knowing that she was in such capable, compassionate hands brought our family so much comfort and peace. Your patience, dedication, and the warmth you bring to your work do not go unnoticed. From the smallest gestures of kindness to the attentive care you provided daily, you made a profound difference in her life and ours. We are truly grateful for everything you have done. We are also grateful to Dr. Hoffman who was not just her doctor but a friend, and Patriot Hospice. We are thankful for Monsignor Siffrin who was always a friend and spiritual guide throughout her life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Noon Saturday, February 22, 2025 in St. Edward Church, 240 Tod Lane, Youngstown, Ohio 44504 where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10 am to Noon.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Edward Parish and Ursuline High School "Don & Jeanne Foley Scholarship Fund".
