LIBERTY TWP. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Edward Church, celebrated by Monsignor Robert Siffrin along with a cousin of Mr. Yukon, the Reverend Dennis Hrubiak for John P. Yukon, 88, who passed away Wednesday morning at Liberty Health Care Center with his family by his side.
Mr. Yukon was born in Youngstown on Jan. 22, 1925 and was a son of Frank and Tillie Dusatynski Yukon and was a lifelong member of the community.
He was employed by Republic Rubber and Aeroquip as a pipefitter for over 44 years retiring on April 13, 1987. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and was a recipient of Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and served on the USS Wolverine and the USS Casa Grande as a fireman first class.
A member of the church, he enjoyed bowling and bowled in the Aeroquip Bowling League and the Polish American Legion Post 87 Bowling League, he enjoyed fishing and tinkering around the house and with automobiles.
Mr. Yukon leaves to cherish his memory his wife of over 65 years, the former, Victoria Ukropetz, whom he married June 12, 1948, son, Jim Yukon of Liberty Twp.; daughter, Linda (John) Leonard of Royal Palm Beach, Florida; brother, Frank (Joanne) Yukon of Youngstown; granddaughter, Jennifer (David) Major; great grandchildren, Alexander, Lauren and David.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Yukon; sisters, Mary Richards, Helen Yukon and Tillie Coley.
The family will receive relatives and friends Monday, 4-6pm and Tuesday, 9:30-10:45am at St. Edward Church , 240 Tod Lane, Youngstown.
