STRUTHERS – Karen A. Milakovich, 81, of Struthers passed away Monday, Memorial Day, May 27, 2024 at Hospice House.

Mrs. Milakovich was born Monday December 7, 1942 in Youngstown and was a daughter of William J. and Veva Jane Galbreath Gatze and was a lifelong member of the community.

She was a Zone Manager for the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development at Youngstown Metropolitan Housing for over 12 years and then retired from EPCO Extrusions and Painting in Youngstown.

Mrs. Milakovich was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish/St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church, enjoyed her animals, walking and reading. She was a 1960 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School, attended Youngstown College and received her two-year degree from Penn Ohio College in Secretarial Science.

She was past president of Mahoning County Ladies Auxiliary Post 3538 where she held various offices. Also was the Mahoning County Chairperson of Crime Prevention collaborating with police chief Stanley Peterson to form block watch clubs and during the elections she was a Democratic Precinct Judge.

Mrs. Milakovich leaves to cherish her memory a sister, Veva Hasner of North Lima; nieces, Erica Payne; Jessica (Amanda) Gavitt; and Michaela (Adam) Wolfgang; great nieces, Sarah Payne and Emersyn Wolfgang; great nephews, Anthony Gavitt, Jackson, Duke, Jaxon and Nathan Wolfgang, Nathan and Wyatt Payne.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her companion, William J. Grady.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Christ Our Savior Church from 10 am to 11 am followed immediately by A Mass of Christian Burial celebrated Very Reverend Philip Rogers.
