NEW CASTLE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Edward Church, celebrated by Monsignor Robert Siffrin, for Lolita E. Rena, 86, who passed away late Christmas Eve at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Mrs. Rena was a daughter of Teodoro and Trinidad Sta. Maria Esguerra and was born Sept. 15, 1929 in the Philippines and came to this country and the area in 1990. In the Philippines she was a Restaurant Entrepreneur and continued her love of cooking in this country. Mrs. Rena was a member of the St. Edward Parish, Catholic Women's League, the Cursillo Movement, Couples for Christ and housed seminarians as they prepare to become a priest. As for the love of her faith Mrs. Rena would be in prayer for her family and her passions would be her green thumb with flowers and vegetables and visiting casino's where she was a frequent winner. Mrs. Rena leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Lorna Carolipio, Cezalito Santos, Heidi Rena, Jose Rena, Jr. and Pia Rena; sisters Caridad Gomez, Juanita Rivera and Priscilla Villaroman; grandchildren, Reginald, Redmond, Paul Christopher, Carlo, Grace, Camille, Ian, Christian, Maynard, Gabrielle, Jason and the grand dog, Ellie. Mrs. Rena was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Cesario Santos and her second husband, Jose F. Rena who passed away May 14, 2011; sons, Mario, Ricardo and Armando Santos; brothers, Julian and Crispulo; and sisters, Esparanza and Teodora. The family will receive relatives and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the McCauley Funeral Home and from 10 t0 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at St. Edward Church.
