A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Rose Church in Girard, on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 11am, celebrated by Monsignor John Zuraw, for Margaret Mary Kather, 83, who passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Kather was born in Youngstown on April 9, 1935, a daughter of Vincent I. and Irene Saunders Laughlin and was a lifelong resident of the valley.

She was a graduate of Chaney High School and on February 28, 1953, married Albert Kather. They shared a loving life together until his passing in January, 1991.

Working in the medical field for many years, Mrs. Kather was a STNA (State Tested Nurses Aid ). She was employed by Windsor, Campus and also performed private duty home care retiring from nursing in 2008.

She cherished her time with family members, loved being around people which served her well during her nursing career, was a devoted Pittsburgh Steeler fan and always had the companionship of her beloved dog Fifi.

Mrs. Kather leaves to cherish her memory; daughters: Michelle (Gary) Musolino of Youngstown, Ginger (Arnie) Timlin of Girard, son: James (Carol) Kather of Hubbard, grandchildren: Timothy (Tamica) Timlin, Ronda Kather, Jimmy Kather, Jami Kather, Katelyn Lawrence, Gary (Jessica) Musolino, Mary Jo (Darrel) Stone, Ashley Smith, Alexis Smith, Michael Smith and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Kather was preceded in death by her children: Mary Jo Kather, Rose Mary Bakalar, Kathleen Kather, Vincent Michael Kather and Michael Kather and sister, Florence Jane Duffy,

Family and friends may greet the family on Thursday, Dec. 13, from 10am-10:45am, prior to the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose Church.
