CHAMPION - Marlene Connors, 89, of Champion, formerly of Mill Run Dive in Liberty Township passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 8, 2025 at Armstrong Memory Care Assisted Living.
Mrs. Connors was born Sunday, November 3, 1935 in Yatesboro, Pennsylvania and was a daughter of James and Sarah Snee Murray moving to the area in 1953.
She was graduate of Shannock Valley High School and upon moving to the Youngstown area, she attended Youngstown College and was a resident of Buechner Hall. She thoroughly enjoyed her time at Buechner Hall a place where she made may friends. She had quite a sense of humor which endeared her to many loving long-term friendships throughout her life.
In her early years Mrs. Connors was employed by General Fireproofing as a secretary and when she became a mother, she stayed at home to be with her family.
Mrs. Connors was a member of St. Edward Parish, actively involved with Liberty Senior Citizens Club and the Liberty Historical Society. She enjoyed Saturdays as a member Women's Card Club that would meet at Wendy's on Belmont Avenue. She loved volleyball, and bowling and as you noticed was full of life. Mr. & Mrs. Connors were passionate about golfing together for many years, and somehow incorporated that they had a beautiful devotion towards one another. That they truly defined the meaning of soul mates.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Kelly Connors of Canfield; her son-in-law Gerald Brandenstein of Girard; daughter-in-law, Donna Connors of Duluth, Minnesota; grandchildren, Kristen (Trevor) Davidson of Duluth Minnesota, Shannon Marie Connors of Scottsdale, Arizona; Jacob Brandenstein of Girard; great granddaughters, Anna Marie Davidson, and Elle Davidson.
Beside her parents, Mrs. Connors was preceded in death by her husband, John Patrick Connors whom she married Saturday, April 26, 1958 and who passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021, son Timothy, and four brothers and two sisters.
A private Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, April 12, 2025, in St. Edward Church celebrated by the Reverend Monsignor Robert Siffrin.
The family would like to extend a special thank you for the faithful visits and loving support to Marlene during her lengthy illness and loss of her sweetheart John to Chuck and Gracie Logan and Barb Tyndall.
