Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN – Patricia McCauley Guarnieri, 72, passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 25, 2022, at Hospice House with her loving family by her side.

Patty was a daughter William D. and Terese G. Ferreri McCauley, born in Youngstown on Wednesday, March 16, 1949.

After her marriage to George in 1972, they moved to Florida and Patty began her career in consumer product sales in the Tampa Bay area. Patty was an award-winning national sales manager for the Dial Corporation. After returning to Ohio Patty was a Regional Director for the Austin Nichol Company. After her retirement Patty and George owned and operated the Belleria Restaurant in Struthers for over 20 years.

In 1990 Patty was diagnosed with kidney cancer which began an arduous journey for 32 years. She battled cancer for so long that eventually she co- existed with it. Cancer was a part of her life, but it never defined her because she would never let it ruin her zest for life. A story of drug trials at the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Center that would work for a for a period of time, but Patty would continue to move forward with strength, courage and tenacity that certainly was unmatched.

All who knew Patty will have the amazing memories of the times we were fortunate enough to be part of her magic and spend time in her graceful and loving presence.

Patty was a member of St. Edward Parish, 1967 graduate of Ursuline High School and a graduate of Youngstown State University.

Patty leaves to cherish her memories her husband, George Guarnieri in which they just celebrated their fifty year anniversary on January 22, 2022; her daughters, Dana Lantz (Michael Lambert) of Youngstown; and Josa (Justin) Muir of Youngstown; and the light of her life her two grandsons, Luke Lantz and Cole Muir; siblings, Paul M. (JoAnne) McCauley of Youngstown; Daniel W. McCauley of Youngstown and Joanne (Doug) Collier of Medford, New Jersey; her former son in law, Joseph Lantz; brother in law, Angelo (Darlene) Guarnieri; sisters in law, Cathy (Terry) Oaks; and Theresa Malcomson; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and a host of wonderful friends.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Billy; sister- in- law, Marilyn Guarnieri; brother- in-law, Charles Malcomson, and a special nephew, Pat Reagan who also passed away from cancer.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 30, 2022, and Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. January 31, 2022 all in St. Edward Church followed by A Mass of Christine Burial at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Monsignor Robert Siffrin.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers that material contributions may be made to St. Edward Parish, 240 Tod Lane, Youngstown, Ohio 44504, and the funeral home has requested please wear a mask and maintain social distancing.

The family would like to thank Dr. Charles Wilkins and Dr. Salim El-Hayek for their love and support for their continuous effort to make Patty better. To the Taussig Cancer Center for the medicine that gave Patty some sense of quality of life and for Hospice House for their genuine care and love for Patty's last few days. You all will never be forgotten.
