YOUNGSTOWN-Services will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the McCauley Funeral Home for Raymond William Thompson, Jr. 50, who passed away Sunday afternoon at Camelot Arms Care Center with his family by his side. Ray was a son of Raymond W. and Patricia Morris Thompson, Sr. and was born on Jan. 3, 1965 in South Bend, Indiana and came to this area as infant. Ray, who was affectionately known as "Mondo" loved to cook for family and friends and would often make dishes from old family recipes and deliver them to his aunts and uncles. He eventually joined the family business at Tomasino's Pizza where he created a new and interesting menu and opened the family business to serve breakfast. "Mondo" loved to sing his whole life especially in the concert choir where he often performed for military veterans. Ray a veteran himself was a member of the United States Coast Guard serving on the Coast Guard Cutter Steadfast. He was a 1983 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School. He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Patricia of Austintown; brothers, Mark (Kristen) of Middletown, Connecticut; John (Diane) of Austintown; Mick (Michele) of Lordstown; Chris (Carla) of Coral Springs, Florida; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father. "Mondo" loved talking sports and hanging with his friends and brought joy to everyone he came in touch with and will be greatly missed. We will always love you Mondo!! The family will receive relative and friends from 5 to 6:50 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The McCauley Funeral Home serving the valley for more than 113 years!
