Obituary

GIRARD—A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, March 26, at 5pm at St. Christine Church celebrated by Father John Keener for Raymond D. Vlock, Jr., 62, of Girard, who passed away suddenly on March 20 at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown with his family by his side.

Mr. Vlock was born on June 9, 1955, in Roswell, New Mexico a son of Raymond D., Sr. and Anne Kohut Vlock and moved to the Mahoning Valley with his family as an infant.

Ray was a 1973 graduate of Chaney High School and also attended Choffin Career Center for two years. He was employed by Boak and Sons, Inc. and retired after 30 years of service as a home improvement estimator. He was respected by the "Boak and Sons Family" and his many customers that he always aimed to please.

On October 4, 1980, Ray married Sandy Ross and that began a love affair of 37 1/2 years together. He was the proud father of Dana Rae Vlock, his "Buddy". Ray was a great friend and was loved by many.

He had a passion for gardening, watching westerns, fishing, wine tasting and most important day trips with Sandy and Dana. Ray was an avid Cleveland Browns fan decorating his office with Browns paraphernalia and was a member of the Carovillesi Society of Campbell.

He was a member of St. Rose Church but having attended St. Christine School, being married at St. Christine Church, growing up "around the corner" and a proud father of an awesome teacher at St. Christine School the family felt comfortable having his funeral service there.

Ray is survived by his wife Sandy and daughter Dana Rae both of Girard; sisters, Joanne (Sam) DiRocco and Cherri Estrada both of Phoenix, Arizona; mother-in-law Helen Ross, who loved him like a son and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Lenore Evans and father-in-law Patsy J. Ross.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the family to donate to Ray's favorite charity.

The family will receive relatives and friends Monday from 3-4:45pm at St. Christine Church prior to the Mass.

Thoughts and condolences may be sent to the funeral home website www.mccauleyfuneral.com.
