YOUNGSTOWN – Richard A. Drennen, 85, of Youngstown, passed away Wednesday evening, December 17, 2025, at Park Vista of Youngstown Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Drennen was born Thursday, July 18, 1940, in Mobile, Alabama, a son of Richard B. and Dorothy Martin Drennen, and moved to the Youngstown area from Texas in 1942.
He was a graduate of The Rayen School and received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Youngstown State University and was a mechanical engineer for over 35 years working primarily for Wean and WCI Steel and retired in 2000. While he was at WCI Steel he was the scout master for the children whose parents worked for WCI.
Mr. Drennen was a member of St. Edward Parish where he donated his time and talent in numerous capacities such as member of St. Vincent de Paul Society in which he distributed countless meals. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council #11005 at St. Edward Church, a eucharist minister and an altar server.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, the former June Fiscus whom he married April 24, 1965; sons, Alan (Katie) Drennen of Northfield; and Paul (Beth) Drennen of Canfield; brother, Edward L. Drennen of Struthers; and a granddaughter, Skylar.
Mr. Drennen was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2026, in St. Edward Church, 240 Tod Lane, Youngstown 44504 celebrated by the Very Reverend Monsignor Robert Siffrin.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that contributions please be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society care of St. Columba Cathedral, 225 Elm Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44503
