You always heard Dick before you could see him, whether by his humming "Blue Moon O'er Kentucky," or letting loose an infectious laugh, just because. Dick had a zest for life and lived each moment to its fullest. A constant mantra was, "It's all about family."
Dick spent his free time with his wife, the former Barbara DeFrances, whom he married March 22, 2004; his five children, Richard (Rachael) Bieber, Jr. of Salem, Tara (Tom) Feller of Canton, Jennifer (Chris) Tontini of Clearwater, Fla., Matthew (Sheena) Rupe of Clearwater, Fla. and T. J. 'Chase' Rupe of Austin, Texas; 12 grandchildren: Lyndsey, Corey, Cameron, Jordan, Nicolas, Alyssa, Alex, Roman, Mia, Addison, Hanna and Sophia; he also leaves his brothers, Howard (Sandi) Bieber of Austintown and Donald (Cheryl) Bailey of Lake Tahoe, California; sisters, Kari Beddard of Florida, Margaret Corll of Columbiana; his mother- and father-in-law, Rita and Rocco DeFrances of New Middletown; brother- and sister-in-law, Tony and Eileen DeFrances; a very special cousin, Kathy Scarnecchia, who gave her love and support throughout Dick's illness; several nieces and nephews; his dog, Bridget, and cat, Putter.
Dick looked forward to every day. He loved his garden, and enjoyed his career so much that he felt like he never 'worked' a day in his life. Dick was an avid reader, and also relaxed by playing video Solitaire. He loved playing the game Sudoku.
Dick was preceded in death by his mother and step father, Elsie and Harold Bailey, and his father and step mother, Raymond and Sylvia Bieber.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 5:50 p.m. at the funeral home.
