BOARDMAN – Robert E. Byrne Sr. went home to be with The Lord on Sunday morning, April 24, 2016.
He was born on Dec. 30, 1926, the son of Charles and Bertha Dettman Byrne. He attended The Rayen School then went on to serve in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Salem and also in the Korean conflict. When he returned from the service he worked at the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company and then on to drive truck for Commercial Lovelace.
He loved being outdoors and he was an avid gardener. He enjoyed sharing his produce with his neighbors. That was how he lived his life; always doing for others. He had season tickets for YSU football for many years and he was also a big fan of Ohio State football, the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory: daughter Mary Louise Anspach (Rich), son, Robert Jr. (Judy) Austintown, daughters Pamela Lindley (fiancée Earl Driscoll) of Titusville, FL and Paula Macala (Steven) of Boardman of which he made his home. He leaves grandchildren James Polosky, Kelly Byrne, Ryan Byrne, Stephen Macala and Daniel Anspach as well as five great-grandchildren: Addison and Devin Stetson, Lily and Lyla Polosky and  Elley Macala. His former wife Mary Lou Byrne passed away in 2003.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Hospice of Senior Independence, 6715 Tippecanoe Rd. Suite E20, Canfield, Ohio 44406.
Robert and his family are eternally grateful for the love and care of his caregivers Mary Dunlap and Dave Anderson.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, April 27, from 10-10:45 am at St. Edward Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 am.
