Sister Agnes Clare Snyder, H.M. (the former Clara Snyder), died Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Villa Maria Community Center.

A 1937 graduate of St. John High School, Canton she entered the Sisters of the Humility of Mary in 1943 from St. Paul Parish, Canton and professed perpetual vows in 1948. She received her BSEd from St. John College and her MSEd from the University of Toledo.

Sr. Agnes Clare served in the ministry of education for 54 years teaching children in the primary grades in the Cleveland and Youngstown dioceses including St. Paul, Salem, where she was an educational assistant from 1996-2002. She returned to Villa Maria Community Center in 2002 where she tutored and shared in the HM Ministry of Prayer.  In the year before her death she offered herself in the ministry of faith-filled presence.

Preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary (McCallum) Snyder; her sisters, Sr. Mary Snyder, HM, and Bernice Caldwell; and her brothers Francis Wesley Snyder, Charles Snyder and William Snyder, she is survived by her sister-in-law Nancy Snyder and her nieces and nephews and their families and by her sisters in the Humility of Mary Congregation with whom she shared her life for 74 years.

Funeral Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Villa Maria Chapel, Villa Maria PA.  Friends may call at Villa Maria Chapel Tuesday, November 14, 3:30 – 7pm and Wednesday, November 15, 9 – 9:45 AM. Prayer service at 7:00 pm Tuesday, November 14.
