VILLA MARIA, PA. - Sister Mary-Joanna Huegle H.M., 89, the former Mary Josephine Huegle and formerly Sr. Mary-Arlene, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at Villa Maria Community Center in Villa Maria.
She entered the Sisters of the Humility of Mary Congregation in 1949. Sr. Mary-Joanna served 59 years in active ministry as a teacher, library clerk, artist and archivist for the Sisters of the Humility of Mary. She taught in Cleveland schools and at St. Patrick in Hubbard.
In 1977, she was asked to establish the archives of the Sisters of the Humility of Mary at Villa Maria.
The daughter of the late Edwin and Irene (Werthmann) Huegle, she is survived by her brother Peter Huegle of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; her nieces and a nephew and their families; and her sisters in the Humility of Mary Congregation with whom she shared her life for 68 years.
She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Arlene Morton, Jeanette Stewart and Grace Ann Fitts.
The funeral is Friday, Jan. 20, at 10:30 a.m. at the Villa Maria Chapel in Villa Maria.
Friends may call at the Villa Maria Chapel Thursday, Jan. 19 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Jan. 20, from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. The prayer service will be held  at 7 p.m. On Thursday, Jan. 19.
