VILLA MARIA, PA. – Sister Mary Patricia Leopold, H.M. (formerly Sr. Chaminade), 85, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at Villa Maria Community Center.
Born in Cleveland, she was a 1950 graduate of Lourdes Academy. She entered the Sisters of the Humility of Mary in 1950 from Blessed Sacrament Parish, and professed perpetual vows in 1956. She received her BSE from St. John College in Cleveland and her MAT in English from Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. She did her doctoral course work in educational foundations at Kent State University.
Sr. Mary Pat served 44 years in education as a teacher, principal and consultant and 13 years in parish and pastoral ministry in the Cleveland and Youngstown dioceses and Archdiocese of Chicago, including Humility House in Austintown; St. Ann Parish in Sebring; St. Joseph Health Center in Warren and St Edward in Youngstown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond C. and Mary Elizabeth (Miller) Leopold; and her brothers, Raymond E. and Howard Leopold.
She is survived by her sisters, Rita Leopold and Kathleen Leopold; her niece and nephew and their families and by her sisters in the Humility of Mary Congregation with whom she shared her life for 67 years.
Funeral will be Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the Villa Maria Chapel in Villa Maria. Friends may call at the Villa Maria Chapel on Tuesday, Nov. 28, from 3:30 to 7 p.m., and Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Prayer service will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28.
