Ann Marie Morley, 95, peacefully passed away August 8, 2023 at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House.
Born September 20, 1927 in Susquehanna, PA to Mark Joseph and Mary Agnes McCarthy Murphy, she was a sister to the late Robert, the late Mark (JoAnn Davis Murphy), Endicott, NY, Sister Robert Mary Murphy of the Immaculate Heart of Mary order, Scranton, PA, Mary Agnes Murphy Fauci (Sal), Endwell, NY. She graduated from Laurel Hill Academy in Susquehanna and received a business degree from the Ridley School in Binghamton, NY.
Ann Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Bill, infant children Peter and Patrick, parents, brothers Bobby and Mark Joe and great granddaughter Abigail Jones. She is survived by daughters Meg Deskin (the late Bill), Cove, TX, Betsy Morley (Steve Tillisch) Ashland City, TN, Ann Marie Miller (Blaine) Jackson, MO, sons Bob, Bill (Velma), Joe (Susan) all of Youngstown and Mark (Jill) Lewis Center, OH, grandchildren: Bill, Brian (Suzy), Sean and Carrie Deskin, Susan Morley Jones (Ron), Kelsey Wright Cline (Tim), Nick Wright and Mary Fratis, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and sisters Mary A and Markie.
A fixture of Youngstown’s north side since marrying the love of her life, William Charles Morley in 1950, she sent her seven children to St. Edwards School and Ursuline High School. Ann Marie devoted her life to the service of God through many avenues. Her love of music was a common denominator in serving God, the community and family, whether playing piano, organ, accordion, harmonica, autoharp or using her lovely singing voice. She was an accomplished painter. She was involved in the Cursillo movement since its inception. Along with husband Bill they mentored many couples through this special Catholic couples retreat. They also counseled young couples through the Catholic Pre Cana marriage counseling service. She served as President of the Youngstown Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, President of the Mahoning Deanery of the National Council of Catholic Women, was a member of the Ohio Catholic Conference, Confraternity of Christian Mothers, St. Edwards PTA, Wednesday morning prayer group with dear friends and the Serra Club where she recently helped pray Matthew Zwilling from the seminary to the priesthood. She volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul and various other clubs and organizations. She was devoted to civic duties, working as a poll worker and an active supporter of various political candidates and campaigns. She was secretary to: Monsignor Fannon at the House of Prayer, Rabbi Schecter at Temple Emanuel and Maureen Fogerty at Speech Pathology. She enjoyed 27 happy years as the Mass organist for the Sacred Heart congregation. Time permitting she was Mass organist at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and would then deliver holy communion to patients.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff and residents at Victoria House Assisted Living in Austintown, Windsor House in Liberty and Hospice of the Valley Hospice House in Boardman.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Edward church, con-celebrated by the Reverend Monsignor Robert J. Siffron and Fr. Matthew Zwilling on Monday, August 14, with calling hours at 10:00 a.m. followed by Mass at noon.
