Donald McKenzie Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN –Donald E. McKenzie, 81, of Youngstown passed away earlier in December at his residence.

Don was born in Youngstown, April 28, 1938, was a son of Edward L. and Sally Grasso McKenzie and was a lifelong member of the community.

He was a member of St. Edward Parish, and was a 1956 graduate of The Rayen School where he played defensive end on the undefeated football team. Don was a loving son, brother, uncle, great uncle and a devoted friend.

Don was a dedicated employee as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service and when he was not working, was a devoted church member, involved in a number of activities related to spreading the word of God. When he retired after 36 years of service, he devoted himself entirely to serving God’s church by organizing Bible studies, outreach to the poor, and other evangelization efforts. He truly placed his relationship with Jesus as his first priority in life.

Don leaves to cherish his memory, brother, Edward C. McKenzie of Niles; sister, Margaret “Peggy” Marsh of Liberty Twp.; his beloved nieces and nephews, Margaret McKenzie Dubaj of Niles; Patrick (Amy) McKenzie of Cincinnati; Mike McKenzie of Atlanta, Georgia; Sally (Keith) Corso of Liberty Twp.; Art (Mary) Marsh of St. Marys, Kansas; eight great nephews, six great nieces and his neighborhood family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a baby brother, Colleen Marsh an infant niece, sister-in-law Patricia McKenzie, and a brother-in-law Arthur Marsh.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, any memorial contributions be given to or sent to the McCauley Funeral Home, 230 Broadway Ave., Youngstown 44504 for a Mass for the repose of his soul.
