LIBERTY TWP. – Donald O’Hara, 93, passed away early Tuesday morning on September 12, 2023 at Liberty Health Care Center.
Mr. O’Hara was born Friday, July 25, 1930 in Youngstown and was a son of Edward and Agnes May O’Hara and was a lifelong member of the community.
In the early years he enjoyed the family vacations to Conneaut Lake Park and Lake Erie.
He worked for the United States Post Office as a carrier for well over 32 years, and after retirement he enjoyed spending time with his brothers and sisters. He was always concerned that everyone was doing fine.
A faithful member of St. Edward Church where he attended 4:00 p.m. Mass every Saturday. After retirement he enjoyed working in his yard keeping the best yard in the neighborhood usually spending all day in the yard making changes to flowers blooming all summer long and landscaping. He would be so happy to know Lisa is continuing his work in the yard and an avid reader.
Mr. O’Hara immensely enjoyed the holidays and was so concerned for his neighbor that he would bring dinner to them before anyone else could eat at the house.
Mr. O’Hara leaves to cherish his memory several loving nieces and nephews, which includes William Rafferty and Kevin (Lisa) Rafferty with whom he made his home, several great nieces, and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
He was a kind and gracious man and never had a negative comment about anyone. The last several years he enjoyed attending the family reunions arranged by his niece, Leah. He looked forward to his great great nieces Brooklyn and Micah who would entertain him.
Besides his parents, Mr. O’Hara was preceded in death by brothers, Jackie, James, and Edward O’Hara; sisters, Ruth McKenna, Darlene Rafferty, Dorothy McGuire, Eileen Mack, Blanche Stuckey, and Mary Agnes Collins.
The family will receive relatives and friends Friday, October 6, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in St. Edward Church followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m, celebrated by Monsignor Robert Siffrin.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. Edward Church, 240 Tod Lane, Youngstown, Ohio 44504.
