LIBERTY TWP – James “Jim” M. Yukon, 69, of Liberty Township, passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 11, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Main Campus with his loving mother by his side.

Jim was born in Youngstown on June 15, 1953 and was a son of John P. and Victoria Ukropetz Yukon and was a lifelong member of the community. Jim was a member of St. Edward Parish and attended St. Edward School and graduated from St. Edward Junior High. He attended Liberty High School, graduating in 1971.

He was hired to work for Packard Electric in 1971 after graduating high school. He remained a loyal employee until he retired in 2008. Throughout his 37 years at Packard Electric, he worked on the assembly line, index line, an inspector and before retiring from Delphi Electric worked as a packer.

Jim was an avid sportsman since he was 18 years old. Locally, he enjoyed hunting deer. He began attending “hunts” in Wyoming when he was in his early 20’s where he successfully hunted elk. After several years of hunting in Wyoming he began hunting in Colorado where he hunted elk and bears. Jim was very proud of his many deer, elk and bear mounts.

He became so experiences with his hunting skills that he also began working as a “hunt” guide in Colorado. Along with hunting he loved to take his boat on Lake Erie and fish for walleye every summer. He expanded his boating skills to deal with the waters of Lake Erie by becoming a certified Boat Captain. Jim was an active member of the North American Hunting Club in which he was a life member. The Northeast Conservation Club, a life member of the NRA and was involved in numerous hunting and fishing clubs.

Jim leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Victoria Yukon also of Liberty Township; his sister, Linda (John) Leonard of St. Cloud, Florida; niece Jennifer (David) Major; great nephews, Alexander, and David; great niece, Lauren; an aunt, Joann Yukon and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, John P. Yukon, who passed away October 16, 2013.

The family will receive relatives and friends, Wednesday, October 19, 2022 in St. Edward Church from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. celebrated by Monsignor Robert Siffrin.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers contribution may be made to Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Road, Canfield, Ohio 44406.
