Kathleen Rock Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN - Kathleen Suzanne Rock, 80, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend died on Monday evening, October 3rd after a long illness.

Kathleen was born on April 1, 1942 to Paul and Anne P. Rock in Warren, Ohio.  She grew up with her siblings Patricia, Kenneth, Elaine, John and Carolyn and graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1960.  She attended Youngstown College and studied nursing.  She worked for a number of years for the government including the US Army and the Ohio Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation.

Kathleen was active in the Church and was an Oblate of Saint Benedict at Queen of Heaven Monastery.  She found strength in her Catholic faith.

Kathleen made raising her son Jason her priority and encouraged him in all of his interests.  She was always willing to swim, fish and play baseball and football with him.  She taught him the importance of hard work and the value of loving family and friends.

Kathleen enjoyed reading, playing cards, bingo, rock ‘n’ roll, cooking, cuisine and bragging about her grandchildren.  She had an active social life and saw her friends as her family.  She was inclusive and welcoming to all.  She loved animals and had many pets over the years.

Kathleen is survived by her son, Dr. Jason Rock of Liberty, OH (Kristen), her sisters Elaine Borowski of Bristolville, OH, and Carolyn Rock of Warren, OH, her sisters-in-law Alice Rock of Niles, OH, and Patricia Rock of Grayslake, IL.  She also leaves 4 grandchildren: Jason Jr., John, Andrew and Elizabeth and a number of nieces and nephews.
