Lin Tseng Obituary

Lin Tseng 1931-2022

NOVELTY, OHIO – Lin Tseng, a longtime resident of Youngstown, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Wednesday, September 7, 2022. Lin was born on August 11, 1931 in Taiwan, where she lived until 1972. As a young woman, Lin was a popular actress in the theaters of Taipei. In 1956, she married Ben Tseng. The couple raised five children while operating a general store in Taipei. In 1972, the Tseng family moved to Mansfield, Ohio, and two years later to Youngstown, where they opened the Hong Kong restaurant in downtown Youngstown. For the next 25 years, Lin was involved in the management and operation of the family’s four restaurants in the Youngstown area. After living on Youngstown’s west side for 33 years, Lin moved to Canfield in 2007 and to the Cleveland area in 2020. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose favorite activity was large family gatherings. She also enjoyed fashion, cooking, travelling (especially trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas), and spending time with her grandchildren. Lin was preceded in death by her husband Ben in 1991. She is survived by her five children – Sherry of Chippewa, PA; Sue of Novelty, OH; Wen of Torrance, CA; Lee of Macedonia, OH; and LiLi of Solon, OH – as well as seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. There will be no calling hours. A private celebration of her life by family members will be followed by burial next to her husband in Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown.
