Lois Brauninger Obituary

NORTH LIMA – Lois Jean Brauninger, 89, passed away Tuesday evening, March 9, 2021, at The Assumption Village in North Lima.

Mrs. Brauninger was born November 14, 1931 in Youngstown, was a daughter of Francis and Emelie Mullin Zuercher and a lifelong member of the community. 

Mrs. Brauninger was a member of St. Edward Parish, a 1949 graduate of Ursuline High School and attended Youngstown College and became the Homecoming Queen in 1950. A member of Youngstown Country Club and the Youngstown Club, she was involved in the community as a fundraiser for Friends of American Art, Chairwomen of the Elder Hostel Committee, a member of the Board of Directors of the Youngstown Symphony while serving also as a volunteer on numerous other charitable organizations. In addition to her passion for the fine arts, Mrs. Brauninger also enjoyed her time with interior decorating, watercolors and birdwatching.

Mrs. Brauninger leaves to cherish her memory, sons, William (Linda) Skinner of Boardman; Robert Skinner of Shelby; and Mark Skinner of Brooklyn, New York; grandchildren, Scott Trotter; Brett (Valerie) Trotter; Jacob Skinner; Sean Skinner and Emel Skinner.

Mrs. Brauninger was preceded in death by her sister, Jane Barko and her former husbands, William Phillip Skinner whom she married in 1955 and who passed away May 10, 1987 and Earl Wayne Braununger who passed away on March 22, 1888.

The services were private.

The family has requested that any donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
