Mary Julian Obituary

CORTLAND – Mary Louise Julian, 67, of Cortland, passed away Tuesday evening at her home with her loving family by her side.

Mary Louise was born in Youngstown, February 24, 1952, and was a daughter of Carmen and Patricia A. Naughton Naples and was a lifelong member of the community.

She was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, Youngstown Air Reserve Station in Ohio, serving as Director of Personnel and retired after 33 years as a Chief Master Sergeant in 2012.  She was very patriotic to her country as evident by her many years of service, and having the “Mary L. Julian Leadership Award” established in her honor.

Mary Louise worked alongside her father and uncle, Carmen and Ralph Naples, at the Golden Dawn Restaurant in Youngstown. She was a member of St. Edward Parish and as a devoted parishioner she was a sacristan, Eucharist Minister and helped to clean the church to show her love for God.  Mary Louise also volunteered at the St. Vincent DePaul Society and Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital, was a 1970 graduate of Ursuline High School, attended Youngstown State University, and was known for her artistic talent, social nature and a outgoing personality.

Mary Louise leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Vincent of Copley; Carmen (Monika) of Marietta, GA; Scott (Rachel) of Cortland; John (Dan) of Orlando, FL; Anne (Varun) Kerof of Burlingame, CA; Joseph (Anna) of Liberty Twp.; and Patricia of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, Louis, Nicholas, Alexander, Maya, Fionn, Naina, Anaya, Jaanavi, Giovanni, Nieko and Elias; brothers, T. Gregory (Kathleen) Naples of Hudson; R. William Naples of Hudson; Dr. Patrick (Sandy) Naples of Medina; sisters, Mary Ann (Rick) Vogt of Hudson; Judy (Doug) Soeder of Sagamore Hills and Carolyn (John) Barry of Liberty Twp. and the love of her life, Kevin O’Leary.

Besides her parents, Mary Louise was preceded in death by her aunt, Mary Louise Johns

The family will receive relatives and friends from 3:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday, February 2, 2020, at St. Edward Church and 10:00 to 10:45 am Monday, February 3, 2020, also at St. Edward Church followed by a Mass of Cristian Burial at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, 252 E. Wood Street, Youngstown 44503
