YOUNGSTOWN – Richard R. Lucarell, 78, of Youngstown, who was known as “Luke” passed away peacefully Thursday morning, Sept. 3, 2020, at his residence.
Luke was born July 22, 1942 in Youngstown and was a son of Anthony “Dugan” and Dorothy Pogacnik Lucarell and was a lifelong member of the community.
Luke was employed by the Federal Municipal Court as the chief bailiff for many years and retired in 2004. He was a 1960 graduate of Ursuline High School and staunch supporter of many departments within the high school and a graduate of Youngstown State University in which he also supported. He was a huge fan of the New York Yankees and Ohio State Buckeyes and an Army Veteran.
He leaves to cherish his memory, brother, Philip (Rose Ellen) of St. Petersburg, Florida; sister, Elaine Seminara of Farmdale; nieces and nephews, Shawn Seminara, Stacy Seminara, Phillip (Catherine) Lucarell, Jr. and Kristin Brown, five great nieces, Maiya, Brianna, Callista, Riley and Ruby, his dear friend who was like a brother to him, Samuel (Jayne) Carelly, and his wonderful companion, his dog Cupcake.
Besides his parents, Luke was preceded in death by his other constant companion, his dog Hannah
The family has requested that material contributions may be made to a non-kill animal shelter.
Graveside services were held Tuesday at Resurrection Cemetery due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
