A Divine Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 13, 2020, at St. Maron Church,1555 S. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, OH to celebrate the life of Rose Marie (Nohra) Thomas who passed away peacefully on Monday November 9th with her children by her side. Rose was born in Youngstown on Mother’s Day May 13, 1934, the first born child of Simon Rizek and Mary Galip Nohra. She was a 1952 graduate of Ursuline High School and worked for many years at the Mahoning County Department of Human Services.

On May 14, 1955, she married her beloved husband, Nasef J. Thomas, and together they raised their four children, Attorney Richard Thomas, Daniel (Catherine) Thomas, Judith (Michael) May and Mark (Elizabeth) Thomas.

She also leaves her nine grandchildren, Mark and Rachael Thomas, Daniel (Ashley) and Michael (Allison) Thomas, Christopher (Erica) May, Samantha (Derek) Meduri, Eric, Alex and Taylor Thomas; daughter-in-law, Pamela Thomas; sister-in-law, Jeanette Thomas; brother-in- law, John Schiavone; and her many loving nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Nasef, who passed away December 12, 2009; her parents; her brother, Joseph (Betty) Nohra; and sisters, Julie Schiavone and Elizabeth ( Kenneth) Emch.

The family would like to thank the Antonine Sisters and staff of the Antonine Village for the love and care given to our mother. A special thank you to Marilyn Dohar Mastronarde for the love and help she gave to “Aunt Rosie” while at Antonine Village. With much gratitude we thank Dr. David Rich for his dedication and special care given to Rose.

In lieu of flowers the family requests material contributions be made to the Antonine Village, 2675 N. Lipkey Road, North Jackson, OH 44451.

Calling hours will be held at 10:00 a.m., prior to the funeral mass, at St. Maron Church.

Those in attendance are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing. For those who cannot attend, please know the family understands and asks that you keep Rose in your prayers.
