Ruth Ann Cappuzzello

Ruth A. (Hlebak) Cappuzzello passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at home surrounded by family.

Ruth was born in Youngstown on May 27, 1949, the third of four children to Joseph and Agnes (Rubicky) Hlebak.

Ruth was a 1967 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and a 1970 graduate of St. Elizabeth School of Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Youngstown Osteopathic Hospital.   

Ruth had a deep love of family and friends and will be greatly missed.  Her life was a model of strength, sacrifice, and unconditional love. She touched all who met her with a gentle and quiet example, never given to despair; reminding all of us to live each minute of every day in courage and kindness. She was truly remarkable.

Ruth was happiest when spending time with those she loved.  Ruth enjoyed family gatherings and reunions and getting together with her nursing friends.  She loved every minute spent with her children and grandchildren.  She was their beloved mom and Baba.  The love and joy they shared was truly a gift, and the memories made at Baba’s house will always be cherished.       

Ruth is survived by her husband, Joseph, whom she married on August 31, 1973; her children Jennifer (Thomas) Cooke, Devona (Brandon) Marshall, Jason (Jackie) Cappuzzello, Joseph (Emily) Cappuzzello, Nicholas (Jessica) Cappuzzello and Natalie (Charles) Williams; her brothers Robert (Marlette) Hlebak and James (Debbie) Hlebak; brother-in-law Calvin Crutchfield; and twenty-six grandchildren with one on the way.

Ruth was preceded in death by her mother, Agnes, her father, Joseph, her sister Darlene Crutchfield, and her grandson William Thomas Cooke.

A private mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.  In lieu of gifts, please consider a donation to St. Rose Catholic Church, 48 E. Main St., Girard, OH 44420 where Ruth was a parishioner for many years.
