Sister Deborah “Debbie” Barker, H.M., 64, died Sept. 6, 2021 at University Hospital in Cleveland.
Born in Akron, Sr, Debbie was raised in Warren and graduated from Warren Western Reserve High School in 1975. She entered the Sisters of the Humility of Mary in 1977 from St. Pius X Parish and professed her perpetual vows in 1984.
Sr. Debbie earned her BSE from Kent State University. She was a dedicated elementary teacher for 20 years who loved the little ones in her care.
She received a liver transplant through the organ transplant program of Lifebanc, Cleveland.
The daughter of the late Robert E. and Sheila (nee Finan) Barker and sister of the late Cindy Knicely and Sue Jaskowick, she is survived by her brothers Mike and Steve Barker, her sisters Kathy Kowalczyk, Colleen Barker Williamson, Maureen Shreves and Nancy Barker and their families and by the Sisters of the Humility of Mary with whom she shared 44 years of her life.
Funeral Saturday, Sept. 11 at 10:30 AM at St. Edward Catholic Church, Youngstown. Friends may visit prior to the Mass from 10:00 to 10:30 AM.
