Sister Dolores Bourquin H.M.

Sister Dolores Bourquin, H.M., formerly Sr. Peter Fourier, 89, died May 31, 2021 at Villa Maria Community Center.

Born and raised in Canton, she graduated from Canton Central Catholic High School in 1950. She entered the Sisters of the Humility of Mary from St. Peter Parish in October 1950 and professed her perpetual vows in 1956.

Sr. Dolores completed her BSEd and her MSEd with a major in guidance from St. John College, Cleveland. She also received certification in pastoral ministry from the Diocese of Cleveland. Sr. Dolores served in the Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Youngstown dioceses including St. Patrick School and Parish, Hubbard.

The daughter of the late George and Marcella (nee Moledar) Bourquin, and sister of the late Doris Fabian (her twin), Therese Strabley and Regina Bourquin, she is survived by her sister Martha “Marty” Howard and her brother Paul J. (Karen) Bourquin, many nieces and nephews, and their families; and her sisters in the Humility of Mary Congregation with whom she shared her life for 70 years.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date since Villa Maria Community Center continues to be closed to guests.
