Sister Lucy Copeck H.M.

VILLA MARIA, PA - Sister Lucy Copeck, H.M., 76, formerly Sr. Mary Theola, died Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Villa Maria Community Center, Villa Maria, PA. She was born in Conneaut, Ohio, and entered the Sisters of the Humility of Mary from Mother Cabrini Parish in 1959.

Sr. Lucy ministered in elementary education for 37 years in the Cleveland and Youngstown dioceses, including St. Stephen, Niles, St. Paul, Salem, St. Pius X, Warren, and St. Patrick, Hubbard. She taught CCD in Conneaut and also volunteered at St. Mary Parish, Conneaut. After her retirement from active ministry, Sr. Lucy dedicated herself to volunteer work with various organizations in the Hubbard/Girard area. She had a great love for cats, especially the strays and those in need of a temporary or permanent home.

Sr. Lucy was a long-time active member of AA, a frequent speaker and sponsor for many women even during her last months of illness. 

The daughter of the late Stanislaus and Ludwina (Marsowicz) Copeck she is survived by her nieces and nephews and their families and her sisters in the Humility of Mary Congregation with whom she shared her life for 59 years.  She was also preceded in death by her sisters Theola and Helen Copeck, and Mary Meara; and her brothers Leonard, Charles, Raymond, Frank and John.    

Funeral Monday, August 27 at 3:00 pm at Villa Maria Chapel, Villa Maria PA.  Friends may call at Villa Maria Chapel Sunday, August 26, 3:30-7:00 pm and Monday, August 27, 1:00-2:45 pm. Prayer service at 7:00 pm Sunday, August 26.
